So often when we look at our algorithms and our social media we see a lack of representation from Black artists, but it is not because they do not exist. It is simply because the algorithm, like the people who coded it, are biased.

For this display, being shown during Black History Month, I want to take back our digital feeds and fill them with Black Artists, particularly focusing on  Black Artists working with the textile medium. Showcasing a way for others like myself to see themselves. Fighting back against the all mighty algorithm with the end goal being a digital reset of our feeds

Perennial has been building a creative culture of
sustainability by bringing DIY classes and events to the
community since 2011. Whether it’s at their South
Broadway workshop or through their community
outreach efforts Perennial believes in creative reuse for

all.

On October 25th Perennial will bring designers, artists,
and sustainability champions together to celebrate
some of the most innovative ReDesigns of the year.
Artistic teams will have to transform a
discarded item, sourced from a real St. Louis alley, into
a future heirloom. Perennial empowers our community
with the tools and skills to find possibility in salvaged
materials and build new sustainable habits all year.
